RESCAN” will cover all Carers in rural East Suffolk , which can be defined, but not exclusively, to an area defined as being roughly within a 15 mile radius of Saxmundham.

The Association shall be a non-political, non-sectarian and democratic organisation formed to represent Carers in rural East Suffolk .

    • It shall have the objectives of promoting the quality of life of Carers and those being cared for.
    • It shall actively promote the views of the members of the Association and a sense of Community within the area.
    • It will work and co-operate with other local organisations to achieve these ends.  

 

RESCAN's Mission :

RESCAN's mission is to help and support all Carers and their Children and Adults with additional needs and aims to be an independent voice with a key role in the planning, development and delivery of local services for Carers and Service Users, in rural East Suffolk.

RESCAN will act as a social hub for carers functioning by holding meetings on a monthly basis, circulating a quarterly printed newsletter to members

and maintaining and developing an interactive website,

with up-to-date local information, support, opportunities and sources of advice.

 

RESCAN's Aims and Objectives are:

•  To exchange ongoing one-to-one information and emotional support.
•  To arrange regular carers, and user, social events and two carer/user forums per year, with other stakeholders.
•  To arrange breaks and activities, as a respite planning project.
•  To raise awareness of carers and users needs, through campaigning and by being involving in the identification, planning, development and delivery of services.
•  To assist in the monitoring, evaluation and prioritising of services for carers and users.
•  To identify new and hidden carers through contact with local authorities, community centres, libraries, hospitals and GP surgeries.
•  To identify partnership opportunities and networks with other community and voluntary groups to raise awareness of carers and user needs and develop appropriate support .

Membership shall be available, free, to any Carer in rural East Suffolk .

 

East Suffolk covers, but not exclusively, Aldeburgh, Earl Soham, Framlingham, Fressingfield, Hacheston, Hoxne, Leiston, Peasenhall, Saxmundham, Snape, Stradbroke & Laxfield, Walberswick & Wenhaston, Wickham Market, Worlingworth and Yoxford.

 

Issues covered include respite, transport, legal/rights/benefits advice, education, training, housing, independent living, employment etc…

The Association has a constitution, dedicated bank account (requiring two signatures on all cheques)

and a management committee.
